FIESTA ROXY SHOWROOM
The Station Casino Group contacted Sound Image in January 2001, to redesign and install a brand new audio and ligthing system for the historical Roxy Theatre in the Fiesta Casino, Las Vegas. Project Manager Jason Schwartzel and Project Engineer Scott Oosthuizen, visited the site middle of January. What they found was a bare room, with a basic lighting system, and no audio system of note.

Together with the Station Casino Entertainment personnel, Judy Alberti, Leonard Ladon and Chuck Kessen, the design and budget was developed, and proposals for the audio and lighting system were submitted a week later. The instructions were clear to the design team: design a high quality system capable of meeting all potential audio and ligting showroom riders. As the current AC audio and Lighting power distribution were insufficient, a special attention was given in the design and engineering of the required conduit and circuitring.

The audio system was designed around Sound Image Series 5 concert enclosures loaded with JBL components, and 1250 Audio Composite Engineering underhangs. Four custom Sound Image double 18" "Theatre subs" were used for the low end. QSC PL and PLX series power amps were used throughout the system. Yamaha consoles were specified for both the F.O.H. and Monitor positions, and a mix of B.S.S., Klark Teknik, Drawmer, DBX and Yamaha processors were included for audio processing. Custom Sound Image birch ply-wood racks housed all the audio equipment. The lighting system included a Jands Lighting Flying Pig Hog 1000 console and High End Studio Color 575 MSR's and High End Studio Spot 575 MSR's. 96 Channels of 2400 watt Leprecon dimming and Par 64 fixtures with Wybron 7" Forerunner scrollers were additionally supplied. Doug Fleenor DMX-512 splitter took care of the DMX distribution. The Lighting system was designed and installed to be completely modular, with future changes and expansion in mind. Specially designed Jeff Quinn " truss warmers " completed the artistic look of the system.
